Gastronom в„–1 is a fixture in the GUM department store on the Red Square, making it Moscow's most central grocery store. Not only does Gastronom в„–1 retain a sense of history in its interior decor (marble columns, arches, huge chandeliers, and stylized sign-boards for products) but also in 1950s-style uniforms of the sales-clerks and in the wide selection of classic Soviet products on offer. The food assortment ranges from gourmet delicacies to nostalgic foods that were fixtures in the Soviet diet. Items like Dom Perignon champagne, live lobsters, jamon, oysters, and sushi share the shelves with piles of canned meats, sprats in oil, 3-liter jars of juice, and condensed milk. There is also a cafe that serves deli foods and great baked goods - popular with GUM shoppers, especially on the weekends.
