| • BRIEF DESCRIPTION |
|
| Moscow has several of the eponymous salons of artist Vladimir Mikhailov, who specializes in creating Orthodox images in jewelry. Having worked with stones for over twenty years, Vladimir Mikhailov has been lauded for relaying religiosity and beauty in the articles he creates. In his works, Mikhailov revives the techniques for depicting Orthodox religious images which originated in Pskov and Novgorod in the XII-XIII centuries. The assortment of articles includes crosses, icons, rings, reliquaries, Easter eggs, and children's spoons. The articles are artfully made from stones and precious metals. The artistry shows, for example, in the icon pendants, which feature interwoven angel wings and delicate details of several metals combined in one item. Rings have elegant Orthodox inscriptions and curved lines. Prices at Vladimir Mikhailov's salons are high.
