• BRIEF DESCRIPTION |
Dom Knigi, or "House of the Book", is the traditional Soviet name for the main bookshop in every town and city. Moscow's Dom Knigi has it's central location on Noviy Arbat and remains, despite competition, the biggest bookshop in the city. Altogether, the store stocks over 250,000 titles, including scientific and technical literature, history, psychology, and school textbooks, as well as a comprehensive collection of contemporary and classic Russian literature. There is also a reasonably large section devoted to second-hand and antiquarian books. Despite its rather ugly 1960s premises, Moskovskiy Dom Knigi is well worth visiting for Russian-speakers.
