The Sovietsky Historical Hotel offers reasonably priced four-star accommodation just outside the center of Moscow. Built on Stalin's orders in 1952, the Sovietsky combines Soviet splendor with a traditional Russian atmosphere and modern conveniences for both business and leisure travelers. It is also home to the famous Yar Gypsy Restaurant, which has existed on the site since 1826 and offers a nostalgic reminder of early 20th-century Russia, serving Russian and European cuisine to the accompaniment of folk performances. About 10 minutes' drive from the Kremlin, the Sovietsky is also just a short walk from the nearest metro station.
